Associate Degree

1. Students must have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA and excellent attendance.

2. Students must be on track for completing (by graduation from high school) the required Regents’ Core Curriculum.

3. Students must be enrolled in a college course for which dual credit is attempted and recorded on both student’s secondary and postsecondary academic record.

4. Students will be admitted and enrolled as a “Non-Degree Seeking” student. Upon graduation from high school, students must reapply for undergraduate admission and meet the University’s admission requirements.

6. To remain in Dual Enrollment classes, students must maintain a Northwestern State University GPA of 2.5 or higher.  Some specific classes require a C or higher to move forward in that content area (for example, you must earn a C in DE English classes to take the next English class).

7. NSU allows a maximum of 12 college hours per semester for regular DE students.  NSU allows a maximum of 16 college hours per semester for DE students who have been accepted as an Associate Degree candidate.

Pineville High School and Northwestern State University are pleased to offer the Associate in General Studies degree to students at the minimum cost of $25 per college course.  Some course may include a textbook cost.  The majority of course costs are covered by the school board and state department of education.

1. Courses with physical textbooks will provide students with any materials necessary for completing the course. Some teachers may ask students to purchase one or more required materials for the course. It is the student's responsibility to acquire these materials.

2. NSU uses the IncludED Textbook Program so some courses have digital textbooks. The costs for these books are billed to Pineville High School. Students are responsible for paying for these textbooks.

Students should access the State of Louisiana Board of Regents’ website to view the Master Course Articulation Matrix. Students should consult with the Registrar’s Office of the institution they plan on attending after high school prior to enrolling in dual enrollment courses to verify course transferability.
